wild at heart

Don’t let art become complicated.  Sometimes I just wash ink all over my art journal pages as a background, grab a basic stencil, cut out a picture from a magazine that expresses what I want to say and find some words to paste on.

Simple.

Satisfying.

In 1/2 hour i am done.

everything I want is on the other side of fear

The LuLuArt Colour Me Positive Art Journaling prompt this week is ‘Everything I want is on the other side of fear.’  This is my art journal page process on the thought and my adapted quote. ‘What if everything I want is on the other side of fear?’

Voila! Have a great day. Don’t forget to create something every day. Anything.  be intentional with your creativity, the world desperately needs creatives.  Don’t let fear hold you back. Create anyway. On the other side of fear is creativity. Rx

More Butterflies in Her Hair

I’ve finally finished a really exciting art project I’ve been fiddling with for a few weeks now to get just right.  It’s a new range I’m about to release into my Madeit shop… ‘Butterflies in Her Hair’ this one is titled.  It is inspired by an art journal page I did last year.

I will do some butterfly art works in pastel colours and some in the brights (pictured below).

I took the picture last night and so it’s not a great picture but I couldn’t wait to share it with you all. Today I will take some professional pics and list it in my Madeit shop. Below is a close up before it was finished and before the glass went on so it’s a little clearer.IMG_20150712_211958

The frame is recycled and repainted in the delightful and environmentally friendly Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint. I buy my MMS milk paint from an Australian supplier I Restore Stuff.

I mixed up extra milk paint and painted several other frames I had lying around the house in lovely MMS Ironstone..  Painting was part of my bucket filling yesterday.

strong woman

One of my favourite quotes is “Strong women: May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.”

strong woman1

This art journal page celebrates all us strong women: the teary ones, the joyful ones, the ones standing at cross roads, the ones sure of their path, the single ones, the married ones and the ones in between, the ones who dance and the ones who mourn, the ones achieving their dreams and the ones still plodding along towards their goals, the women who feel ugly and the ones who genuinely smile at themselves in the mirror… Girls, we all are strong women. I am, you are, a woman of strength and power. But we must believe it and release it.

this picture is all about her

Sometimes the picture and colours speaks louder to me than i could ever use individual words to communicate. So I left my words off this art journal page and let the page speak for itself, just leaving the white stencilled arty words as background. This art journal page is all about her.

she art masterpiece

We are heading full speed down the final stretch towards back to School!  I’ve been busy getting our home school things ready, but last Sunday at my desk I snuck a little art joy in.

IMG_9717

The Bible verse I have been studying called for She art. She art a la Christy Tomlinson style … A girl. A Masterpiece. A young woman surrounded by colour, music, and a little bird.  Such a happy dress she wears and i wanted to specifically have her showing her heart. What is inside  her is the Masterpiece.

I haven’t used a doily much before, it makes a perfect journal  space for my verse: Ephesians 2:10

respect

The fourth thing of my fifteen things is all about me.  I will respect me more.  Whether it is watching what I eat, whether I exercise, what work hours I keep, rewarding myself for a job well done, allowing myself to have fun & take time off, make mistakes and fail…

This She Art page was one I did on holiday as a reminder that life is a marathon not a sprint, a reminder to me that I will always be imperfect, get over it.

When I was a little girl I loved picking dandelions that were in full bloom. There is something magical about their fragility when I blew the little white wispy umbels into the air carrying my wishes.

The art journal page celebrates that free spirit. “She began everyday at the beginning full of promise and possibilities.  She ended everyday content with her imperfections.”

strength

I am so enjoying the school holidays. The later starts, the sitting around in bed reading or writing my manuscript, eating breakfast late, taking afternoon walks with hubby…bliss.

This art journal page is one I completed while on our recent family holiday. Is the girl supposed to be me?  Not sure really, I have never been a flowers-in-her-hair-girlie-girl.  But I wanted this art journal page to depict a woman who showed strength within, a warrior maiden, not held back by anything. Her strength is her secret that she holds dear beneath the flowers.  She is stronger than she can dare to imagine.

Some days inspiration picks you up and carries you forward; it’s like psychedelic crowd surfing of the mind but with paint, paper, glue and paintbrushes. Last week was one of those weeks when i got my hands messy with creating every single day. Bliss.

I asked myself how much does every piece of my art mirror me and my hearts longings and concluded; they are all 100% me. Art is the outpouring of one’s soul, a wet thesis from the depths.  It keeps me sane. I just need a thousand blank walls upon which to hang them all.
